When it comes to Christmas shopping, I’m a bit rubbish. Every single year, I end up leaving it until mid-December then doing a frantic online shop without even checking how much I’m spending. The result is predictably rather stressful and ends with January being fulled by beans on toast and regret.
Last month, Adam and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary. There’s no denying that it’s all been a bit of a rollercoaster since we said ‘I Do’ but on the whole, I think we’ve done alright so far. Year Two brought along a house move, plenty of ups and downs and pretty much everything in between, however, we developed a much stronger relationship as we began to really settle into married life.
I’ve talked quite a bit on the blog about the fact that Adam and I eloped to NYC in 2016 to get wed but realised that I never really touched upon why. With our second wedding anniversary just around the corner, I thought I’d share our reasons with you.
I’d been a people pleaser for as long as I can remember. You see, I learned early on in life that it was simply easier to keep the peace than risk confrontation and daring to challenge other people’s bad behaviour only leads to misery. It inadvertently became part of my core being to placate others and most of my decisions were based on what would make them happy or comfortable. Right there, a ‘Yes Girl’ was born.
