All Star Lanes is somewhere that I have told you guys all about before. Given the cool, Americana interior and pin-up decor, it should come as no surprise to learn that this place is fast becoming a firm favourite of mine!
This Bank Holiday Weekend, I was invited back to the Manchester branch to try out their brand new Bottomless Craft Beer Brunch menu.
For just £19 pp, you can enjoy two hours of bottomless beverages alongside a selection of delicious American-style brunch dishes. If classic mimosas and Prosecco aren’t really your thing then
we can never be friends you’re in luck! Adam is a prime example of this, with him much preferring craft beers over a bottle of fizz (more for me) and All Star offer plenty of options to keep everybody happy.
This brand new menu also features craft beers from the likes of Beavertown Brewery, Steven’s Point Brewery, Brooklyn Brewery and Boulevard Brewery. Curated by leading beer expert, Melissa Cole, the All Star line-up of craft beers perfectly match the flavours and profiles of each dish, offering diners a truly unique taste experience.
We arrived almost an hour early for our brunch, however the lovely staff managed to find us a table regardless, which was much appreciated. Once seated, we took a quick look at the drinks menu and I opted for the bottomless Mimosa. Don’t judge me; it was a Bank Holiday weekend after all! Adam remained undecided so we mooched through the brunch menu whilst he deliberated further.
With some awesome food options such as fluffy pancakes, eggs & avocado on toast and more on offer, we both took our time over what dish to choose and changed our minds more than once in the process! Eventually, the ‘Salt Beef Hash’ (£10) won me over and Adam settled on the ‘Chicken and Waffles’ (£9.50)
He was going to have ‘The Classic Muffin’ too (homemade sausage patty, a fried duck egg, melted cheese, mustard & ketchup – £7.50) until I told him off for being greedy! As my Nana used to say; ‘Your eyes are bigger than your belly…’
Our server recommended the ‘Brooklyn Breakfast’ to Adam (Brooklyn lager, Buffalo Trace bourbon, maple syrup, apple juice and lime) which was created by All Star Lanes Booze Chef, Sean-Lee Soon. Now I’m not a huge fan of lager however I had a taste of this curious cocktail and was pleasantly surprised; it was surprisingly light and refreshing, with a subtle fruity twist.
Our food arrived promptly and we tucked in. My salt beef hash consisted of small pieces of tender salt beef, pan-fried potatoes and two sunny side up fried duck eggs, accompanied by a portion of fresh spinach and rich venison sauce. The beef was cooked to perfection. Tender and full of flavour, it complimented the potato hash beautifully. My eggs were cooked just as I like them, with a signature ‘sunny side up’ runny yolk. The rich sauce added a little more depth to the dish and worked well.
Adams dish was a mix of buttermilk fried chicken and treacle-cured bacon on a bed of freshly baked waffles with portions of maple syrup and salted chilli butter on the side. With a crisp coating, the chicken pieces remained flavoursome and juicy. This was the perfect companion for the fresh, light waffles and sweet maple syrup. The chilli butter gave a contrasting kick, without being too overpowering.
It turns out that Adam could have easily eaten 2 dishes in the end as it only took us both around 15 minutes to finish our meals! The portion sizes were modest but substantial enough for a brunch menu.
After our meal, we made a pit stop to the retro Photomatic booth situated by the bowling alley and managed to capture two fairly acceptable pictures and two…well, less than flattering ones! (Hello double chin/thunder arm) The lack of warning before the picture is my excuse for looking worse for wear; definitely nothing to do with the aforementioned mimosas *ahem* It’s safe to say that I won’t be showing you guys the evidence on here!
The brunch menu and bottomless drinks packages are currently available at All Star lanes every Saturday and Sunday from 12PM – 4PM.
All Star Lanes is somewhere that I will no doubt be visiting again in the near future. You can find out more about the Bottomless Craft Beer Brunch here; why not make an afternoon of it and get a group of friends together for a game of bowling too? Just don’t blame the booze if you lose…
*Our food and drink were provided FOC however all opinions are my own as always
