Adam and I don’t usually celebrate Valentines Day but this year is rather special; it will be our very first one as Mr and Mrs Valentine!
Of course, there are hundreds of gift ideas out there to celebrate the day but personally, I like to find products that are a little bit special. When Love Give Ink contacted me about their gorgeous new Valentines Day collection, I had a nosy over on their website and knew immediately that they were the company for me!
Launched in 2013 by Martha Keith, Love Give Ink’s origins have a rather romantic back story. It all started when Martha met her now-husband. He proposed to her with a treasure hunt and on their first wedding anniversary, Martha gave him a box of ‘Reasons I Love You’. This led to the idea behind Love Give Ink; to create paper-based goods filled with love and personality. They’ve also grown rapidly from being a simple idea to currently having a full production team in a West London studio. I’m a sucker for a thoughtful love story so I was keen to see what these guys had to offer.
When Martha very kindly offered me a sample to review, I chose a personalised ‘Our Love Story’ book. I take photos on a regular basis, however, they tend to get uploaded to my social media accounts and promptly forgotten about. This way, I could finally print off the more memorable pictures and arrange them into an album, to have something solid for us – and potentially our grandchildren – to look back on, taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane whenever we feel like it.
When our handmade book arrived last weekend, the first thing I noticed was the lovely packaging. Encased in a grey box and tissue paper, our book was well protected and this will also serve as storage when not in use. I’d opted for an A4 notebook with plain pages but there are plenty of other colour, size and style variations available.
*no images of said packing as I’d stupidly opened the parcel before taking any! A rookie blogger error right there…
The cover was personalised with our names in gold foil. I’d also sent Martha my favourite wedding picture, along with the sentence ‘Our First Valentines Day as Mr & Mrs Valentine’, which was added to the first page.
I decided to get crafty and create an album of our love story so far. Armed with Polaroid-style prints, washi tape, glue and other trinkets, I got to work. Now, it is to be noted that, although I have great enthusiasm for all things craft related, my actual skills generally leave a lot to be desired in this area!
As Adam and I like to travel as often as possible, I thought that I would document ‘Our Love Story’ through our adventures together. The pictures were arranged in chronological order, starting off with our first trip as a couple to South Lakes Safari Zoo, followed by Portmeirion, Amsterdam (which had provided us with some ‘interesting’ memories and new tattoos) London, our engagement whilst glamping at Feather Down Farms and others, finishing up with our most recent journey to America.
I was actually rather impressed with the results and the high quality of the book was obvious as I clumsily flicked through it. Even though I’ve filled a fair few pages, there’s still plenty of space left over to add our future adventures. This makes our little book even more precious than I’d initially planned as it now has the potential to contain decades of special pictures and memories, all in one place.
Love Give Ink also offer a vast array of products for all occasions and I shall definitely be shopping with them in the future. From gorgeous writing sets and personalised planners to Boxes Of Love, my inner stationery geek was in heaven! Head on over to their website and you’ll not only be supporting an independent business, you’ll also be the proud new owner of some quality, bespoke goods that you’ll struggle to find elsewhere. I defy you to ‘just have a browse’ and come away empty handed!
