Ah, gin. One of my favourite things in life and something that seems to be increasingly popular of late, with dedicated gin festivals and fancy artisanal batches popping up all over the place.
I’ve already told you guys about my fantasy home plans on numerous occasions and a gin cellar (is that even a ‘thing’? If not, it totally should be) is one of the first things that I’d commission in my equally fictitious and extravagant home if I won the lottery.
Seriously, I’m sure I daydream about this stuff way more than most other people do and if you follow me on Pinterest, you may have already spotted my ‘Home‘ board, containing a visual insight to my lavish wish list of interiors and quirky design ideas.
When I saw this gin trolley from the luxury London-based brand, Juliette’s Interiors, it was swiftly added to my list. She’s been named ‘Juniper’ (adorable) and even features a mini fridge, alongside plenty of other handy compartments, allowing you to enjoy the party without having to dash to the kitchen every hour. The gorgeous walnut and polished steel appearance makes her the perfect modern statement piece too – swoon!
Can you even imagine? Living in my ridiculously OTT dream home, wearing a vintage cocktail dress, carting this bad boy into the lounge area (or by the pool, to the west wing, customised cinema room – the possibilities are just endless here guys!) and enjoying cocktails with our friends, a la Joan Harris from Mad Men. Maybe one day, huh?
Recently, Juliette’s Interiors asked if I’d like to create a unique, bespoke cocktail recipe to commemorate this gorgeous piece of furniture and of course, I love a good challenge, especially a gin related one, so here it is! I think that the modern appearance of my concoction lends itself to the uber cool Junpier trolley rather nicely.
The core ingredient (after gin) reminds me of when the kids and I took a trip to Italy a few years ago and enjoyed grapefruit sorbet by the coast. The tang of the pink grapefruit instantly takes me back to Ischia and there’s just something inexplicably luxurious about the addition of pomegranate, don’t you think?
Fantasy Fruit Fizz
Ingredients
70ml of Wild Island Botanic Gin
50ml freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice
25ml pomegranate juice
20ml Prosecco
Soda water (to top up)
A handful of pomegranate seeds
Method
1 – Add 70ml of Wild Island Botanic Gin to a wide gin glass (seriously, this stuff is one of the best gins I’ve ever tried -and I have sampled a lot of gin! Go check it out)
2- Squeeze the grapefruit and add 50ml of fresh juice to the gin
3 – Add 25 ml of pomegranate juice, alongside 20ml of Prosecco and gently stir
4 – Top up with chilled soda water (I initially topped up this cocktail with Prosecco but found that it completely overpowered the other flavours so soda water become the final addition and works much better)
5 – Garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds and a slice of grapefruit
6 – Enjoy!
Juliette’s Interiors have also launched a little competition – the winning cocktail will be officially named the J&T (after founder Juliette Thomas) and will be served at prestige events throughout the year, including Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace. If you fancy voting for yours truly, you can do so here!
