As I’ve gotten older, New Year’s Eve isn’t quite the glitzy, champagne-fueled affair that it used to be. These days, it tends to revolve around a quiet night in with good food and a movie.
This year, however, the girls and I will actually be out celebrating and bringing the new year in in style. LOTD have kindly made sure that my girl and I look the part by providing us with some beautiful glad rags.
I opted for this green pleated long sleeve wrap dress, (£6) dark red velvet wrap dress (£8) and nude court shoes (£12). You simply can’t go wrong with a good pair of neutral heels, can you? Megan went for the slightly more daring gold sequin mini dress (£12) combined with a classic faux-leather biker jacket (£20).
My figure has changed a lot with age but one thing that hasn’t altered much is the fact that I’ve always been top heavy. I’ve tweaked my style to accommodate this and found that wrap dresses are the most flattering for my body shape.
These dresses fit me perfectly and clung to all the right areas (although the slit in red dress means that I have to be a little bit cautious when walking up or down stairs. It can never be as bad as the time I accidentally tucked my dress into my knickers on my hen do in Manchester last year and didn’t notice until I’d already walked back into the main bar, where a
pitying lovely member of staff discreetly pointed out my intoxicated oversight. I think I also left my dignity in Matt and Phred’s that night #neverdrinkingagain).
Anyway, enough of my rambling/oversharing: here are some slightly awkward pictures of our chosen NYE 2017 look, courtesy of Adam (our reluctant photographer) and LOTD!
