The Patricia Dress | Joanie Clothing

If you haven’t heard of Joanie Clothing before, let me fill you in. They are a relatively new vintage-inspired brand, specialising in fun, quirky clothing and accessories.

I’ve already mentioned their Manchester festive launch party that I attended back in November and how I ended up mentally adding a few more beautiful dresses to my ever-growing wish list!

The Patricia dress was one of the preview items that night that really stood out for me and I knew then that I simply had to have it. Luckily, the lovely folks over at Joanie Clothing happened to agree, so here I am to tell you all about this gorgeous little number. Patrica is one elegant dame! Boasting a statement Peter Pan collar adorned with faux pearls, she needs little else to enhance her beauty. The thick jacquard fabric adds an extra level of luxury and the pencil shape is timeless.

Adam and I headed out for a rare date night on Friday – in fact, for the first time since we got married last year – so what better place to give ‘Patricia’ her very first outing than the super classy Australasia restaurant in Spinningfields, Manchester. This venue is a favourite of celebrities and locals alike, with the ultra modern decor and high-end menu making it the ideal choice for a special treat.

Being a Joanie Clothing virgin, I opted for a UK size 12 to test the fit. I’m relatively short at 5’2 and the skirt came just below my knees. When buying dresses, I tend to stick with circle skirts as that particular shape is great at cleverly accentuating my waist whilst moving the focus away from my larger hips.

The classic pencil cut of this dress was a little bit out of my comfort zone, but I occasionally like to try out new styles so I was curious to see how it would sit. The Patricia dress actually subtly skimmed right over my hips, which was a pleasant surprise. I teamed it with my trusty pearl earrings, red lipstick, black heels and vintage clutch bag to create a simple yet elegant look with ease.

I’ll be honest, I felt pretty darn awesome whilst wearing this outfit. I rarely ‘dress up’ these days so to have an excuse to wear such a special outfit this weekend was a refreshing change. One other detail that I love is the fact that this dress has pockets! Now I don’t know about you ladies, but for me, there’s something about having pockets in a dress/skirt that make it seem even more wonderful.

The zip detail at the back provided a modern touch and was long enough to ensure that I could get myself dressed without having to ask for help! (We’ve all been there…) The dress had an extra layer of lining inside to help keep the structure and was unrestrictive.

Currently retailing at £45.00, the Patricia dress is affordable and I know that it can sit in my wardrobe for years to come and not go out of fashion. I love the classic Audrey Hepburn vibe and the fact that it can be worn to almost any event. All of Joanies pieces are available in UK sizes 8-22 and you can get 10% off your first order by signing up to their newsletter today. What are you waiting for?

Apologies for the dire quality of the pictures. The lighting in the hotel had a weird yellow hue throughout, gave the dress an odd sheen which isn’t actually there in ‘real life’ and Adam made it clear that he was unwilling to be a ‘blogger husband’, stating that he’s not a natural photographer so this is the final offering I’m afraid. They really do not do this dress justice so head over to Joanies site here to see more.
